Modern Masters: Netflix documentary on SS Rajamouli to release on THIS date

Netflix is making a documentary on celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli, the brain behind hit films like Baahubali and RRR. Produced by Applause Entertainment and Film Companion Studios and directed by Raghav Khanna, the documentary will be titled Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli.

The film will "encapsulate the filmmaker's creative universe, showcasing his profound influence on Indian and international cinema, his enduring legacy, and his innovative contributions to filmmaking," according to PTI.

SS Rajamouli will also feature in the documentary in his most candid self. Fans will finally get to know some untold stories about the filmmaker and will get a glimpse of his family life. The documentary might also shed light on his bond with fellow filmmakers such as James Cameron, Joe Russo, and Karan Johar, as well as actors Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan.

Monika Shergill, Vice-President Content, Netflix India, shared a statement, saying that the audience will be enthralled by the journey of the RRR filmmaker in Modern Masters: S.S. Rajamouli.

"S.S. Rajamouli is an icon whose visionary storytelling and cinematic brilliance has built deep fandom and put Indian cinema on the global map. His adventurous spirit and mastery of fantasy and epic genres have left an indelible mark on entertainment-loving audiences globally, breathing life into iconic tales from Indian history and culture," Shergill said.

Sameer Nair, Managing Director of Applause Entertainment, is excited to collaborate with Netflix and Film Companion Studios for the doc.

In a statement, Nair said, “His uniquely inventive narrative style has revolutionized Indian filmmaking and we are excited to present his artistic development from his humble beginnings to Baahubali and RRR.”

Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli will premiere on Netflix on August 2.
