Meghan Markle says her 3-year-old daughter Lilibet has ‘found her voice’

Meghan Markle recently shared that her daughter Princess Lilibet has "found her voice". The Duchess of Sussex also stressed on the importance of empowering young girls to speak up.

During a moving speech at the Afro Women and Power event in Colombia, on Sunday (August 18), Meghan thanked everyone for the warm welcome she and Prince Harry received during their four-day trip to the South American country. “Because we are in your country, my husband and I can feel this embrace from Colombia — it’s incredible,” she said.

The event highlighted the achievements of Afro-Colombian women leaders and entrepreneurs in the Cali region. Meghan emphasised the importance of ensuring that women and girls are heard and respected in all aspects of life, a core mission of the Archewell Foundation, which she co-founded with Prince Harry in 2020.

"I find inspiration in the strong women around me, my mother being one of them," Meghan said. "So much of how I approach things is less about the fight, and more about how do we show up in a space and wash things over with love and kindness and generosity."

Meghan also spoke about using one's voice when it matters. "Those are the elements that inspire me — I know how it feels when you don’t utilize your voice when you need to be heard or have something to say. I encourage our daughter to do so — who at 3 has absolutely found her voice, and we are so proud of that,” she added.

During the event, Meghan and Harry were treated to performances by Afro-Colombian musicians Nidia Góngora and Cynthia Montaño, with Meghan even joining Vice President Márquez for some dancing.

As their tour concluded, Meghan and Harry received a bottle of "viche," a traditional Colombian liquor, as a parting gift.
