Remember the viral egg photo that broke veteran Instagrammer Kylie Jenner's record and became the most liked picture a few days back? Turns out the idea came from a 19-year-old Indian origin boy called Ishan Goel.
In an interview to FEMAIL, Goel who holds a degree in marketing stated that the chicken which laid the egg deserved more credit than him. In his own admission, he had just added the 'secret sauce'.
The egg photo, which was initially posted on 4th January has got over 50 million likes and dethroned Kylie Jenner's photo with her daughter Stormi which held the record earlier with over 18 million likes.
Goel revealed that he used his network of influencers and celebrities to get likes for the photo and even pushed it on Reddit.
The initial photo of the egg was posted on Jan 4 with the caption, "Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this"
"The idea that an inanimate object can connect so many people is a testament to the fact that people love to root for the underdog," the 19-year-old told FEMAIL. The photo was a stock photo clicked by Sergey Platonov.
Once the egg succeeded, another egg photo was posted from the handle, now named as @world_record_egg. The photo has got 3 million likes and counting.
Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner took the post sportingly and to mark her dethronement, cracked an egg on a street and posted it on Instagram. Not just Kylie, her long-time fan and popular Indian musician Diljit Dosanjh also took 'revenge' on the evil, brown egg with a video where he can be seen cooking an egg to avenge his celebrity crush's dethronement.
