Mariah Carey’s sister who died on same day as mom hadn’t met her in years

Mariah Carey had been estranged from her elder sister for years before she was informed that she passed away on the same day as her mother. Her older sister Alison Carey and mother Patricia Carey died on the same day over the last weekend after which the singer shared a statement of grief on the sudden passing away of both family members.
A friend of the singer has now revealed details about her life and how strained their relationshiphas been following her passing.

Alison and Patricia’s death came as a shocker for Mariah and there has since been no news about the reason behind their deaths. Although there are reports that suggest that her sister battled drug addiction.
In an interview with People, David Baker, who is Alison Carey’s friend, discussed the relationship between sisters. David revealed that Alison had checked into hospice care earlier this month so they knew that this was coming but “it’s still a shock,” he said. “She got ill fairly quickly and a month later, she’s gone.”
David Baker said Alison and Mariah hadn’t seen each other in person since “either 1994 or 2002.”

Also, Mariah Carey opened up about being estranged from Alison, Patricia and brother Morgan Carey in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. She wrote, “My mother became Pat to me, Morgan my ex-brother and Alison my ex-sister. I had to stop expecting them to one day miraculously become the mommy, big brother and big sister I fantasised about.”
She continued, “I had to stop making myself available to be hurt by them. It has been helpful. I have no doubt it is emotionally and physically safer for me not to have any contact with my ex-brother and ex-sister.”
In the book, the singer also alleged that her sister “drugged me with Valium, offered me a pinky nail full of cocaine, inflicted me with third-degree burns, and tried to sell me out to a pimp.”
After the memoir came out, Alison Carey filed a $1.25 million lawsuit against Mariahin which she condemned the “heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and totally unnecessary public humiliation” she experienced in the wake of her sister’s “cruel and outrageous allegations.”
