The Indian general election finally began on Friday (April 19). In phase 1 of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the voting started in 102 constituencies across 21 states and union territories. Today, the voting is also taking place in Tamil Nadu, and several renowned stars of South Indian cinema stepped out to cast their votes. Check Lok Sabha elections live update here.
Superstar Rajinikanthand actors such as Vijay Sethupathi, Ajith Kumar and Dhanush were among the first few celebrities tocast their votes. Actor Talapathy Vijay, who recently launchedhis political party, Tamiliaga Vetri Kazhagam, returned from Russia on Friday to cast his vote in the Lok Sabha election.
Vikram, Suriya, and Karthi have also cast their votes in Chennai.
Actor Ajith was the firstwho stepped out in the early hours to cast his vote. As per Trade Analyst Ramesh Bala, Ajith came at 6:45 am.
Sharing a video of Ajith inside the polling booth, Bala wrote, “Actor Ajith Kumar came at 6:45 am and waited and was one of the earliest ones to vote.''
Actor Rajinikanth was spotted at a polling booth at Stella Maris College in Chennai. Dressed casually, the veteran actor was spotted at a polling station as he patiently waited for his chance. After casting his vote, the actor posed with the ink-marked finger.

Escorted by his security and the police, actorDhanush was also spotted at a polling booth.Later, he happily posed for the media present outside the polling station as he showed his inked finger. Merry Christmas actor Vijay Sethupathi too was seen casting his vote in Chennai with his wife.The Tamil actor was captured standing in the queue as he waited for his chance. He was seen chatting with the people standing in theline with him.
After exercising his right to vote,Sethupathi happily posed for the cameras as he showed off hisinked finger.
Kamal Haasan, the actor-politician, cast his vote in Chennai. The head of the political party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) is not contesting in the election this time. However, the actor's party supports the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party in the Lok Sabha 2024 election.
