Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar continues to remain on life support at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital and her condition is said to be critical.
The legendary singer was rushed to the hospital on Monday afternoon after she complained of breathing difficulty.
On Tuesday, reports had stated that the singer was back home and stable but they were false. The singer is, in fact, still in the hospital. Her condition is said to be improving but doctors state she is still critical.
Mangeshkar is reportedly suffering from a viral infection which resulted in breathing problems.
Mangeshkar's doctor, Pratit Samdani stated on Tuesday that she is "still on life support, her condition is slowly improving, but she is still critical." He added that Mangeshkar is currently suffering from pneumonia, heart problems, and chest infection. Speaking to a daily, Dr Samdani said, "Unless her infection gets under control, we cannot do any procedures. She is critical. It is difficult to say anything at this moment. We are monitoring her health continuously and we are hoping she will be all right."
Sources now state that the singer is expected to remain in the hospital for over a week. Sisters Asha Bhosle and Usha Mangeshkar were seen visiting the hospital on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Mangeshkar's family released a statement assuring worried fans of the singer that she was stable. "Lata di is stable and much better. Thank you very much for your prayers. We are awaiting her to be at her best so she can be home soon. Thank You for being with us and respecting our privacy," the statement read.
