According to media reports, the singer is suffering from a viral infection.
Indian legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to a hospital today after she complained of breathing difficulty. The 90-year-old veteran was taken to the Intensive Care Unit of Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital early Monday morning, according to media reports.
Confirming the news, hospital sources were quoted, “She was brought to the hospital at 2 am. She is critical and in ICU.”
Lata’s younger sister Asha Bhonsle was seen visiting her in the hospital today. Her other sister Usha Mangeshkar was quoted, "Lata didi is still in hospital. She is under observation. She is doing absolutely well and is stable. She will be discharged by tomorrow. We thought it would be better to treat her at a hospital because of the viral infection so she is there for today."

Lata is one of the most awarded singers of the country. She is a recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards. She has contributed to the Indian entertainment industry as an important playback singer and has sung in several languages including Marathi and Bengali.
