Lata Mangeshkar discharged from hospital, recovering at home: Reports

News of veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar getting hospitalised on Monday had fans of the singer worried.According to media reports, the singer was hospitalsied after she suffered from a chest infection.The singer, who turned 90 in September this year, was taken to the Breach Candy Hospital in the city, her team confirmed.

Now, to the relief of her fans and well wishers, the singer is back home and is recovering from her illness.

According to a statement issued by her team, Mangeshkar could have been treated at home as well but was admitted to the hospital due to her age. "Lata Mangeshkar ji had a viral chest congestion. Keeping her age in mind, as a precautionary measure, she had checked into the Breach Candy Hospital in order to ensure antibiotics are administered on time to prevent any more infection," the staement read.

Mangeshkar is a recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards. She began her career in 1942.
