'Laal Singh Chaddha' will be directed by Advait Chandan of 'Secret Superstar' fame and is scripted by Atul Kulkarni.
The movie is said to start filming sometime later this year and is aiming for a Christmas release in 2020. It is a co-production between Aamir Khan Production and Viacom18 Studios.
While announcing Laal Singh Chaddha, the COO of Viacom18 Studios, Ajit Andhare had said, “It gives me immense pleasure to announce our upcoming venture with Aamir Khan titled Laal Singh Chaddha. For every cinephile out there, the must-watch list of films would be incomplete without the mention of Forrest Gump. To be able to adapt the classic for Indian audiences is a long-cherished dream for many of us."
Taran Adarsh shared a pairof Tweets confirming the same:
The original film, 'Forrest Gump' was directed by Robert Zemeckis and is based on 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom.
The film starred Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump, a slow-witted but kind-hearted man from Alabama who witnesses and unknowingly influences significant historical events in the United States. He stars along with Robin Wright, who plays the role of Jenny Curran, Forrest's childhood friend and a sexual abuse survivor.
Kareena Kapoor is likely to play Jenny as Aamir Khan assumes the titular role in this official remake.
Kareena is presently in London shooting with Irrfan Khan for 'Angrezi Medium' and has Karan Johar's 'Takht' lined up as her next project. She will also be seen in 'Good News' next to Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani.
