Kalki 2898 AD: Prabhas film stays on top at the box office, earns Rs 555 crore worldwide

Kalki 2898 AD is unstoppable! The dystopian sci-fi actioner has been earning moolah from the first day of its release.
Inspired by Hindu scriptures, the post-apocalyptic film is set in the year 2898 AD and is a fusion of Mahabharata and science fiction. The moviehas been in the headlines for its opulence, action sequences and star-studded cast. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie stars legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas among others.

Since its release, the movie has shattered several box office records. As per expectations, the movie performed phenomenally at the worldwide box office in the first weekend.
In the first four days of its release, the movie earned over Rs 555 crore (approximately Rs 5.5 billion) at the box office. On Monday (July 1), celebrating thisbig milestone, the makers of Kalki’s shared the box office report of the movie.

Reacting to the movie's terrific performance, Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared that itsperformance is strong across the country and in all languages in which it has been released.
Adarsh wrote in a post shared on X, ''NUMBERS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS... #Kalki2898AD ROARS, has a ROCKING 4-day *extended* weekend... Look at the day-wise trends, especially the massive jump on Day 4 [Sun]... Just one word: TERRIFIC... This one's a BOXOFFICE MONSTER. East. West. North. In the domestic market, the film has earned Rs 309 crore (Rs 3 billion) at the box office, with major numbers coming from the Telugu version (Rs 18.3 crore), followed by Hindi (Rs 111.5 crore), Tamil (Rs 18.3 crore), Kannada (Rs 1.8 crore) and Malayalam (Rs 9.9 crore).
Kalki 2898 AD Shattering North American Box Office
Prabhas-starrer movie has earned a whopping $11 million (approximately Rs 90 crore) in its first weekend in North America, making history as the first Indian film to touch the mark.
“For the first time, a film hits $11 MILLION in its first weekend in North America 💥💥 #Kalki2898AD ~ North America ~ $11M & Counting,” the makers wrote in the post.
Kalki is dominating the box office in Canada and has become the highest-earning Telugu film in the country.
Despitereceiving poor reviews from the critics, the movie is having a golden run inthe theatres. The film has garnered significant audience attention for its star-studded cast, cameo appearances, VFX and futuristic setup.

In her review, WION's Shomini Sen wrote, "Written by Nag Ashwin, the film has taken huge references from Dune, Star Wars, Mad Max: Fury Road, Blade Runner and even Marvel movies. It's a slow first half and an unnecessary subplot involving Disha Patani and Prabhas's forced romance and gallivanting around the complex."
