'Kabir Singh' becomes first A-certified Hindi film to cross Rs 200 crore

Not every day does an A-rated film get this much love on the box office. Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Kabir Singh’ that has become easily one-of-the-most-talked about films, is now in the news for crossing Rs 200 crore in the domestic collections. It collected this much money on its second Wednesday.
The film, in spite of being A-rated, has scored big in collections. It crossedRs 100 crore in just 5 days and is now on its way to become the biggest grosser of 2019 if it beats ‘Uri: The Surgical Strikes’ which made Rs 245.36 crore.
After earning over Rs 34 crore in its second weekend, the romantic drama remained strong over the weekdays and was short of just Rs 1.05 crore to cross Rs 200 crore mark at the domestic market by the end of Wednesday.
While Ayushmann Khurrana’s film ‘Article 15’ is doing good business at the box office too, Kabir Singh is a hot favourite among many.
In another news for Article 15, the film opened the 10th edition of the UK and Europe`s South Asian film festival on June 20. The film won the Audience Award on June 29. On the other hand, Kabir Singh has divided the opinions of those who have seen the film with some calling it "glorification of toxic masculinity"while some fans continue to enjoy the fillm.
