Independence Day saw two big Hindi film releases. While Akshay Kumar's 'Mission Mangal' has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in first four days of its release, earnings of John Abraham starrer 'Batla House' too has been steadily groiwing at the box office.
Abraham's film which has been directed by Nikhil Advani, has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in five days of its release. Reports state that the film till Sunday had earned Rs 47.99 crores at the box office and on Monday it earned an additional Rs 6.50 crore, taking its five-day total to around Rs 54.49 crore. Trade pundits indicate that the film is particularly doing well in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh region.
Based on the real-life Batla House encounter killing, the film also features Mrunal Thakur.
When Abraham was asked about the big clash with Kumar's film, the actor had stated that he wished his friend a lot of success. Rubbing rumours of a rift between the two, the actor had stated at a press conference, "Honestly, if there was a controversy, I would have loved to create it but Akshay and me are really good friends. We really get along."
