Years after Daniel Craig waved goodbye to the role of 007, the world is waiting for the next James Bond. After auditions held over the summer, the race has come to an end.

The race to find the next James Bond is almost over after final screen tests reportedly took place over the last few weekends. Amid the speculation, former 007 Pierce Brosnan has given his seal of approval to Callum Turner, one of the frontrunners.

In the second-to-last weekend of October, the final James Bond screen tests were reportedly held in London. According to reports, three actors were in contention, and two known faces, Callum Turner and Slow Horses actor Jack Lowden, were present. The identity of the third actor is still unknown.

The world will soon get its new 007. Ahead of the big announcement, former Bond star Pierce Brosnan has given his seal of approval to Callum Turner. Speaking to Vanity Fair, the Irish actor said he is eagerly waiting to see who will play the next Bond.

“Oh, I’m just an audience member now. I’m just the man in the street who is eager to see who is going to play this epic role of cinematic history,” Brosnan, who played the iconic character in four films from 1995 to 2002, said.

Voicing support for Callum, whom he had worked with in 2017’s The Only Living Boy in New York, said, “All the men who are on the list now are actors I admire. Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong. They all have a voice and a physique, and a presence on film. They all have longevity as actors, all of these young men.”

The 36-year-old is known for his performance in Queen and Country (2014). Earlier this year, sources told The Mail on Sunday that Callum has been blabbing and telling his friend that he's the next Bond. What's acting in his favour is that he's also the top choice of the bookies in the James Bond race.

Who is the frontrunner of the James Bond race?

After auditions held in the summer and the final screen test, reports suggest that Slow Horses star Jack Lowden is currently ahead of everyone.

Turner, husband of pop star Dua Lipa, is also a strong contender. Other names reportedly on the list include Josh O'Connor and Jacob Elordi. But as always, the name is one of the best-kept secrets, and a surprise announcement is expected from the makers.
