George Clooney and Amal 'leading separate lives' due to work commitments: Report

Trouble in paradise? George Clooney and Amal are reportedly facing challenges in their marriage due to their demanding careers. If reports are anything to go by, the couple, who pledged in 2014 to never be apart for more than a week, are now struggling to maintain that promise as work commitments increasingly pull them in different directions.

According to Intouch, George Clooney, 63, is planning to relocate to New York City for at least a year to star on Broadway, leaving behind their family home at Lake Como, Italy, where Amal will remain with their 7-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella. This distance, a staggering 4,000 miles, is reportedly putting a strain on their relationship.

“They are both hardcore workaholics, so it’s like they’re in their own little bubble,” a source told the publication. “They are in two very different worlds 90 per cent of the day. They’re leading separate lives.”

Back in 2021, George opened up about his intention to prioritise family and consider retirement from acting by the age of 60. "My wife and I had this conversation when I turned 60. I said, ‘We both love what we do. But we gotta make sure we don’t book ourselves silly'." Despite this, George has remained deeply entrenched in his work.

In recent years, he has produced several projects, directed The Boys in the Boat, filmed Wolfs with Brad Pitt in New York, and worked on another movie with Adam Sandler in Italy.

"George runs his filmmaking operation — from directing and producing to taking acting roles in other people’s projects — like a military general. He’s a perfectionist and demands perfection from everybody who steps up to work with him," the source further told the publication. "He's not doing it for the money. He truly enjoys it and is extremely hands-on."

Meanwhile, Amal, who is a renowned human rights lawyer, is equally dedicated to her career, according to the report. She frequently travels for her work, often shuttling between London, where she meets with clients, and The Hague, Netherlands, home of the International Criminal Court.
