Former Nickelodeon star Melissa Joan Hart on Quiet On Set allegations: 'I absolutely trust them'

Melissa Joan Hart, known for her role in Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains It All, recently appeared on the Meghan McCain Has Entered The Chatpodcast to discuss the allegations made in the documentary Quiet On Set and the culture of abuse within the network.

Hart, 47, shared that she had no horror stories to share from her time at Nickelodeon but acknowledged that she cannot speak for others' experiences.

"I don’t know other people’s experiences and I’m not negating anything anybody else says. I’ve never been told these people’s stories that are in the [documentary]. And I have to say, I’ve never heard a story from a Nickelodeon star personally, nobody’s come to me and talked to me about any of these situations," she stated before adding, "I absolutely trust them, believe them, one hundred per cent."

Having been part of Nickelodeon from 1989 to 1994, Hart also reflected on her time in Orlando, where she shot for Clarissa Explains It All. She said, "In Orlando, I had nothing but a wonderful experience."

However, she noted that the network worked the kids harder than they probably legally should have. Despite the long hours due to school and the show, Hart emphasised that she had fun and was surrounded by a supportive crew and cast.

"They did work the kids a lot harder than they probably legally should. We had a ton of fun, it was just long hours, that’s all – because I had to do school and the show," stated Hart.

Hart highlighted the care and protection she received from the crew and cast, noting that not every aspect of Nickelodeon was negative. "I was surrounded by an amazing crew, an incredible cast that took such good care of me. I mean, these people were protective of me," she shared. "I have to say, not every egg in the Nickelodeon basket is rotten. There were some good eggs – there were some people that really took care of me."
