One of the most anticipated weddings of the year is finally here as Bollywood lovers Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh get set to tie the knot on November 14 and 15 in Italy. With a grand wedding planned for the two, sources close to the couple confirm that there will be two weddings for them -- South Indian style and Punjabi.
According to a new report in a tabloid, Deepika and Ranveer will marry in South Indian style as well as North Indian. The wedding festivities will kickstart with a sangeet function on November 13. This will be followed by a Kannadiga style wedding on November 14. On November 15, they will tie the knot again, this time in the North Indian way.
The report quotes a source: “Since Deepika is a South Indian and Ranveer is of Sindhi-Punjabi origin, the two families decided to follow customs practised by both communities. A South Indian wedding has been planned for November 14, complete with Kannadiga rituals. The next day will see the couple solemnise their relationship as per the customs of a North Indian wedding (Anant Karaj).”
These weddings will strictly be a family affair with almost negligible film industry presence. Among those invited to Italy are Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan (who launched her in the film ‘Om Shanti Om’), Sanjay Leela Bhansali (who cast Deepika-Ranveer in three of his mega-budget hit films and Aditya Chopra (who launched Ranveer in ‘Band Baaja Baraat’). After both weddings rituals, the two will host an intimate party on November 15.
Arjun Kapoor is also said to be a part of the guest list in Italy.
As you must have read, the two will then throw a grand reception for their Bollywood colleagues in Mumbai upon their return. The report states: “The two will host a reception at Grand Hyatt on December 1. As their wedding is an intimate affair, the reception will be a grand one where they will invite their Bollywood friends.
Meanwhile, designer Sabyasachi is likely to design for Deepika’s dress. However, it's still unclear what Ranveer will don for the big day.
