Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was rushed to CRITICare Hospital early this morning after he accidentally shot himself in the leg. The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 AM on Tuesday when a misfire from his licensed revolver struck his knee while he was checking the weapon.

Sources close to the actor say Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata when the accident happened. He immediately sought medical attention and was taken to a nearby hospital in Mumbai for treatment, says Mumbai Police.

In a statement shared by the actor himself, he thanked his fans, his parents and god for their blessings. He also revealed that he is doing better.

"This is Govinda. With the blessings of my fans, my parents and God, I am doing better now. I suffered a bullet injury, but I am feeling fine now. They have removed the bullet. I thank my doctor, Dr Aggarwal, and all my fans who prayed for my well-being. Thank you very much," said Govinda in his first official statement post injury.

His condition is believed to be stable. "The bullet has been removed from his leg," Govinda's manager Shashi Sinha told ANI.

Govindamade his acting debut in 1986 with Love 86. Later, he delivered several memorable performances and got praise from fans and critics alike for his comic timing, dancing skills and dialogue delivery.

Some of his hit films include Rangeela Raja, Deewana Main Deewana, Life Partner, Do Knot Disturb, Partner, Bhagam Bhag, Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare, Kyonkii Main Jhuth Nahi bolta, Jodi No.1, Joru Ka Ghulam, Haseena Maan Jaayegi and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

He also serves as a political leader with the Shiv Sena party.
