Adele is planning to pursue “other things” and take a break from making music for a while. The songstress made the announcement as she plans to take time off from music following her ongoing residency in Las Vegas. The current residency is called Weekends With Adele.
In a recent interview, Adele revealed that she is not working on any future albums and it might be a while before her fans get to hear new music from her. Speaking to a German broadcaster ZDF, Adele said that she has plans to take a “big break” to explore other creative things. She added that it will be “just for a little while”.
To the interviewer, Adele said, “I don’t have any plans for new music, at all. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
Adele has been performing in Las Vegas since November 2022. She will close the residency with a final performance planned for November 23. Before that, Adele will perform a special series of shows in Munich on August 2, 3, 9 and 10, with additional dates on August 14, 16, 23 and 24.
These shows will be special as Adele is said to have created “an open-air environment that has been exclusively created for these special shows.” According to official press release, “The bespoke arena will feature a combination of seated grandstands and standing areas with capacity for 80,000 people per night.”
This is the first time that Adele has played in mainland Europe since 2016.
Meanwhile, for those wondering, this is not the first time since Adele decided to push on the release of new music. Earlier this year, Adele told her fans that she doesn’t anticipate she’ll be writing an album “for quite some time.”
Apart from pursuing “other things”, Adele also worries about stressing her voice too much. She said in an interview, “It’s a lot of singing. It’s two hours. It’s all live. It’s a lot. And I f***** motormouth and chat me a** off as well.”
