
Akshay Kumar has tested positive for COVID-19. The actor has been busy promoting his latest release Sarfira over the past few weeks. As per a report in Hindustan Times, Akshay felt unwell during the promotional tour for the film. He got to know that some of the members of his promotion team had tested positive for Covid. He also decided to get tested and the results came back positive early Friday (Jul 12). He has isolated himself.
Talking about his latest film Sarfira, it is an official adaptation of the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. It is the 150th film of Akshay Kumar's career. Directed by filmmaker Sudha Kongara, it also stars Paresh Rawal, Radhikka Madan and Tamil superstar Suriya in a cameo.
Soorarai Pottru released in 2020 and stars Suriya in the lead role. The film is based on the life of GR Gopinath, founder of Indian low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan. PareshRawal, who stars in the Hindi remake, was also a part of the Tamil film. It was also screened in the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards. The film also picked up several awards at the Shanghai International Film Festival.
Tamil actor Suriya took to X on Friday (Jul12) to thank Akshay Kumar for choosing Sarfira as his 150th film. He also praised the entire case of the film, along with director Sudha Kongara.
