DC vs RCB Match Highlights | WPL 2024 Final score: RCB clinch maiden title, beat DC by 8 wickets

The Royal Challengers Bangalore are the Women's Premier League season 2 champions, winning the one-sided final by eight wickets against the home side Delhi Capitals. 

RCB might be closing in on a historic title win in WPL, but they have to do it without their captain, Smriti Mandhana, who got out on 31. RCB are 82 for 2 in 15 overs.

Delhi Capitals picked the first wicket of the final, removing Sophie Devine, trapped in front on 32 off 27 balls. RCB are 53 for one in 9 overs.

The RCB openers have deployed a cautious approach as they have stitched 26 for no loss inside the Powerplay.

From 64 for 0 to 113 all out, Delhi Capitals suffered a blow to their chances of winning their maiden WPL title. Royal Challengers Bangalore need 114 to lift their maiden WPL trophy. 

Only 18 balls remain and DC only have two wickets in the bag. An innings that started so promisingly is now coming to such a tame end. A repeat of last year's final for DC when they could only manage 131 runs. 

DC: 105/8, 17 overs

At the end of 16 overs, DC are 100/7. The hosts would need some inspirational batting from the lower order if they are to get anywhere near a challenging total. A total around 140 might just be enough. 

Poor shot selection from DC batters yet again! Straight delivery on stumps. Minnu sits on one knee and attempts a wild broom. Gets nowhere near the line and the ball thuds onto the front pad. Thee umpire raises the finger and DC sink further.

Pure madness from DC batters! Another fuller length ball bowled away from the batter's arc. Jonassen runs down the track and scythes the ball straight up in the air and Mandhana at mid off takes a simple catch.

Asha lofts one on middle and leg. Kapp takes the bait and tries to go downtown but miscues the shot and holes out to Devine who runs in from the long on boundary.

It has been 42 balls since DC last scored a boundary. RCB have stormed back into the game and are currently bossing it. DC need to put foot on the gas.

A faster length ball pitching on middle and off, turning into the batter. Lanning, stuck on the crease is hit on the pad as the bowler and the keeper appeal. The umpire takes their time but raises the finger. After some discussion. Lanning goes upstairs but to no avail. Three reds it is.

After a brilliant start to the innings, DC have been pegged back slightly after losing three quick wickets. The game is evenly poised at the halfway stage and both teams will look to seize the next five overs.

Fuller length ball on middle and leg. Capsey facing her first ball, walks across the stumps and attempts a paddle down the leg but sees the ball castle into her legstump. Harakiri from the batter.

Molineux strikes again! Drops a floater on middle stump and Jemimah Rodrigues attempts an almighty heave, only to miss the ball by a countrymile which crashes into the middle stump.

Length ball on middle and leg, Verma sits on one knee and attempts to swat the ball over cow corner but doesn't get enough bat on it and holes out to Wareham who takes a safe catch.

The fielding restrictions have been lifted and boy did RCB needed that. DC openers have been all over them like rash. The team from south of India need wickets and need them immediately. 

RCB: 61/0, 6 overs

At the end of five overs, DC appear to be cruising. There has been no movement with the ball, allowing Lanning and Verma to use the big levers. Ominous signs for RCB. 

DC: 52/0, 5 overs 

Renuka Singh is taken to the cleaners as DC batters accumulate 19 runs in the fourth over. DC right on top here.

Molineux lofts one on outside off, Verma sits on one knee and slog sweeps the ball over long on for a maximum.

DC: 19/0, 2 Overs

DC captain Meg Lanning had a runout scare in the first over. Only if the throw was accurate, she would have been on her way without opening the scoring. 

DC: 9/0, 1 over

Meg Lanning (DC skipper): We will bat tonight, feel that's the best chance to win the game. The pitch looks good and we'll have to bat well. What has happened before is irrelevant, we're up against a great team and we need to play well. We're going with the same team. 

Smriti Mandhana (RCB skipper): We would have batted first as well, but I think it doesn't really go well, we will have to bowl well, stick to our plans and play some good cricket. We've had a lot of ups and downs so far, but we need to be at our best tonight. This is the 4th match on the same wicket, the last game, it played slow. We've one change - Meghana comes in for Disha Karat.

According to Charles Dagnell, runs on board will be crucial in the final and the pitch looks like 140-150 will be a challenging total. The surface us dry but some seam movement takes place late in the evening.

DC have the upper hand over RCB in WPL, having won all four games so far. The last match between the two sides saw DC emerge victorious by a solitary run.

Smriti Mandhana, RCB captain: This year it was very important for us to not [dwell on] what happened with the men's side because sometimes it puts added pressure. We were just thinking that we're only two seasons into it, so let's not take too much stress about what's happened over the last 15 years or go on relating [with the similarities].

Our last 25 days' conversation has always been about enjoying each others' company and really focussing on the processes and training well. We don't want to change anything overnight just because it's the final. We'll still go out today and train the way we have in the last 25 days and come out really strong tomorrow.

Meg Lanning, DC captain: We've had a good couple of extra rest days. We've had a good mix of enjoying each others' company off the field - a good dinner the other night with a bit of fun, and then some training as well the last couple of days. That's the prep that we've gone with the whole tournament, sort of letting individuals go about their business as they need to. 

We feel we're in a really good space heading into tomorrow. It's going be a cracking game, we're really pumped for it and really excited to be involved and we've given ourselves the opportunity to go out there and win it. We're looking forward to taking it on and hopefully playing our best game of the tournament.
