Team India had a brilliant start to their bowling innings as Jasprit Bumrah jolted the Proteas in his first over of the T20 World Cup final. Bumrah, already having a spectacular T20 World Cup in West Indies got the better of Reeza Hendricks with a perfect delivery as India gained momentum in the final. The Men in Blue are defending 177 runs in the final after Virat Kohli came back into form with a 76-run knock.

Having inspired India to win against Pakistan and Australia, Bumrah was once again India’s man for the big occasion as he got the better of Hendricks on the third ball of the second over. The Proteas batter did not judge the flight of an inward-moving ball he left. However, the ball would directly go on to disturb his stumps, resulting in the first breakthrough of the innings for India. The wicket left Hendricks stunned while India celebrated with ecstasy.
Soon the joy would get double as South Africa lost skipper Aiden Markram on the third ball of the next over. Both Hendricks and Markram were dismissed for identical scores of 4 off 5 which left South Africa at 12/2.

What happened in India’s innings?
Batting first, like South Africa, India also suffered blows at the start of the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma (9), Rishabh Pant (0) and Suryakumar Yadav (3) all getting out in the powerplay. India were 34/3 at one stage, however, they recovered well after Virat and Axar Patel helped the 2007 champions recover. Virat scored 76 off 59 while Axar was unfortunate to get run out on 47 off 31 when he was caught napping by Quinton de Kock.
Shivam Dube also played a valuable innings of 27 runs off 16 balls which helped India post 176/7 in their 20 overs. Keshav Maharaj (23/2) and Anrich Nortje (26/2) were the pick of the bowlers for South Africa in the final.
