The Test season 3 reveals Pat Cummins' role in Jonny Bairstow dismissal in Ashes 2023

The upcoming season three of The Test documentary series has revealed the role of Australia skipper Pat Cummins in controversial dismissal of England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow in last year's Ashes. The series stayed draw 2-2 but the dismissal in second Test at Lord's made it tense for the remaining matches.

"Cam Green was bowling and bowled a bouncer and he [Bairstow] ducked underneath it and then just walked out of his crease," Cummins said . "So I just said to Kez [Carey] the ball before, I said 'Kez, just have a throw'."

"Walking back into the Long Room, it was like we'd ripped the soul out of them ... absolutely, yeah, people stepped over the line," Cummins said while recalling the incident in one of the interviews.

Australia opener Usman Khawaja said: "One of them [the members] ... [was] spraying me. I was like 'nup, you can't be saying that stuff'. He said 'oh, I can say whatever I effing want', like a sense of entitlement almost."

The series was heated up after the incident and the harsh treatment by the English crowd made the mighty Aussies feel concerned for safety of Carey.

Talking about the incident in the dressing room, Carey said: "Someone told me to throw it…not sure who it was."

The wicketkeeper suffered a lot of social media abuse in the coming days and said: "It got a little nasty there for a while. That's probably the thing that shocked me the most, the abuse, people going after you…personal, family, all that sort of stuff."

"Looking back on it, I just feel so bad for him what he went through at the time and what his family would have gone through being there at the time. It would have been so hard," Khawaja said about the trolling.
