T20 World Cup 2024: Pak cricketer Ahmed Shehzad blames PCB chairman's TWO MISTAKES for horrible tournament

Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has blamed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi's two mistakes for the team's poor performance at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The comments were made after Pakistan were knocked out of the tournament following abandonment of Ireland vs USA fixture due to rain.

"Since becoming the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi has made two big blunders. First, by re-appointing Babar as captain. Secondly, making Wahab Riaz as chief selector. He has been very unprofessionalism in his decision making and management. You'll be forced not to remove these 7-8 players who have been part of groupism within the team. If you don't make crackdown on these players, it will be harsh on those who will get sacked," said Shehzad on a chat with news outlet Geo news.

Shehzad also criticised senior players including skipper Babar Azam for failing to perform up to the standards. Pakistanlost the games against India and USA while managing a win against Canada. They were in a tricky spot after two losses and needed to win their last league game against Ireland while needing USA to lose against Ireland as well.

The washout of Ireland vs USA game, however, ensured that USA finish with five points while Pakistan now could manage a maximum of four points only, sending them out of the tournament.

"You needed to win by a big margin to improve your net run rate against Canada. However, Rizwan scored the slowest fifty. Babar also played a slow knock. Pakistan cricket has been ruined due to personal milestones. You speak about leadership, but you don't have any. You are just a social media king. You got 4-5 years to improve, but you didn't win us anything.

"Your fitness levels are also not up to the mark. You guys are playing politics in the team. Your are not in your peak anymore, instead your cricket in declining," Shehzad further said.
