IPL 2024: WATCH | LSG's Mayank Yadav bowls fastest ball of season at 156 kmph vs PBKS

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowler Mayank Yadav made a memorable debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, bowling the fastest ball of the season so far. Yadav, during his spell of four overs, also took 3 wickets for 27 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He bowled the fastest delivery of the season at 155.8 km per hour in the 11th over of the innings.

Yadav had bowled the ball to Shikhar Dhawan, who couldn't connect with it and the ball went to Quinton de Kock's gloves behind the wickets. Have a look at the ball below:

Once Yadav was unleashed, PBKS' chase took a hit as they failed to reach the target of 200 despite being at 102/0 in 11.3 overs. Mayank accounted for the first three wickets of Punjab and Kings went from 102/0 to 139/3 in 15.4 overs. Mohsin Khan then joined the party with two wickets in the 17th over as PBKS got completely derailed from the platform set of Jonny Bairstow (42) and Dhawan (70).

With an innings of 28 off 17 balls, Liam Livingstone kept PBKS in the hunt but they could eventually manage 178/5 in 20 overs and lost the game by 21 runs.

Earlier, LSG won the toss and elected to bat first at their home ground. Lucknow opener KL Rahul went back early after scoring just 15 but de Kock kept the innings going with 38-ball 54. After de Kock's departure, stand-in skipper Nicholas Pooran (21-ball 42) and Krunal Pandya (22-ball 43) kept the momentum going on for Lucknow as they posted 199/8 in 20 overs.

It was LSG's first win in two games after losing the first match to Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs. For Punjab, it was their second loss in three games, having already lost to RCB by four wickets in the previous game.
