IPL 2024: 'I'll do everything...,' RCB's Dinesh Karthik aiming T20 World Cup spot

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Dinesh Karthik has said that he'll do his best to be in India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The comments come on the eve of RCB's match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 20. Karthik has been in sublime form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, scoring 226 runs - third most for his side - at an average of 75 and a strike rate of 205.

Speaking of his chances to play the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in June after the IPL, Karthik said: "At this stage in my life, it would be the greatest feeling for me to represent India (at the upcoming T20 World Cup). I'm very, very keen to do so. There is nothing bigger in my life other than representing India in this T20 World Cup."

Karthik, however, acknowledged that whatever decision is taken, he'll be content with it.

"I also feel there are three very, very stable, honest people who are at their helm to decide what should be the best Indian team for the World Cup. Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and Ajit Agarkar. And I'm completely with them. I respect any decision that they take. But all I can say is I'm 100% ready. And you know I'll do everything I can to be on that flight to the World Cup."

Karthik's form although, hasn't been able to save RCB from losing six of the seven matches they have played. His personal performance, nonetheless, have attracted enough attention, including from India skipper Rohit Sharma.

Rohit recently spoke on the Club Prairie Fire podcast and said: "It will be hard to convince MS (Dhoni) although he is coming to the US, to do something else. He is into golf now. DK will be easier to convince I guess."com
