The win has seen India go top of the pile in the league standings while they also registered their first win over New Zealand in the ODI World Cup since 2003 when Sourav Ganguly’s side beat them.

What an effort by Team India, they have leapfrogged New Zealand in the ODI World Cup standings with a four-wicket win. However, Virat Kohli missed out on a hundred getting out on 95. He is remains on 48 ODI hundreds for now. But a what a contest in Dharamsala.

India are still in the driver’s seat but the big question is can he get to the record-equaling ton as he chases Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 49. He needs 20 runs to get to the 100, while India need 24 to win.

India now need less than 50 runs to win and go top of the table in the ODI World Cup while Virat Kohli is also in search of his record-equaling 49th ton in ODIs.

Virat Kohli continues to hold one end as India are where they want to be in the run chase. They now need 55 runs to win in 11 overs with the Men in Blue favourites to win from here on.

The Men in Blue are facing a fighting New Zealand side in their first litmus test of the World Cup and have brought 200 up on the scoreboard. They now need 73 runs to win and go top of the pile in the league standings.

Suryakumar Yadav in his first batting stint has fallen victim to a poor mix-up as he sacrifices his wicket for Virat Kohli. India can now feel the heat in the Dharamsala cold.

Mitchell Santner has scalped KL Rahul as the DRS goes in favour of New Zealand just when the match was moving in India’s favour.

Trent Boult removed Shreyas Iyer off a bouncer on 33 as New Zealand picked third wicket. KL Rahul joins Virat in the middle. India 128/3.

Following several interruptions by fog, play resumed, and Indian batters looked in a commanding position in this run-chase. India is 121 for 2 in 20 overs, with Iyer and Kohli at the crease.

Fog has stopped play at the HPCA stadium in Dharamsala, as India's scorecard reads 100 for two in 15.4 overs.

Per the official word, if the match resumes and turns out to be a 20-over game, India will need 24 runs more off 4.2 overs.

Following two quick wickets off Lockie Ferguson, Shreyas Iyer hit a few fours to release pressure as India inched closer to the 100-run mark.

The sheer pace seems to work for New Zealand as Lockie Ferguson picked his second wicket of the night, removing Shubman Gill on 26, caught at third man.

Lockie Ferguson removed the India captain, Rohit Sharma, bowled on 46 as New Zealand picked the first wicket. India is 71/1 in the 12th over.

The Indian Captain is watching the cricket ball like a football as he hammers Boult and Henry for fours and sixes. India, after the end of ten overs, scored 64/0.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill weathered the seam-bowling storm as they stitched 32 runs without losing a wicket in the first five overs. Gill escaped a run-out scare on the final ball of the fifth over.

New Zealand finish their innings with 273 on board. Daryl Mitchell scores a century while Mohammed Shami, playing his first World Cup game of this edition, walks away with a five-fer. A fine innings from Mitchell comes to an end as he wafts one straight to wide long on where Kohli safely pouches the catch. Shami takes a five-fer on his comeback match.

Bowling the 48th over, Shami darts one in the blockhole and Mitchell Santner is unable to dig it out as the middle and offstump go cartwheeling.

Bumrah digs in a short one on middle and leg. Champman swivels and pulls it straight down to Virat Kohli stationed at deep square leg. The Indian fielder dives in front and takes a good catch.

At the end of 45 overs, New Zealand are 245/5 and will look to kick on in pursuit of 300. Kuldeep Yadav finishes his quota of 10 overs. 

Kuldeep Yadav brought in for his final over, sends Phillips packing who skied a slower one straight up in the air. Three fielders went after it but it was Rohit who managed to pouch it.

Daryl Mitchell smashed his fifth ODI hundred by tucking one down the ground for a single. He has been NZ's best batter in the last two years and has shown once again on the big stage.

At the end of 40 overs, New Zealand are 219/4 and seemingly have slowed down after the wicket of Latham. 

After being taken for plenty, Kuldeep Yadav strikes back and send NZ captain Tom Latham back to the hut cheaply.

At the end of 35 overs, New Zealand are 187/3 and quietly heading towards anything near 280-300. 

India finally have the breakthrough. Shami bowls a length ball on middle and off as the southpaw bunts it straight down the throat of Shubman Gill at long on where the fielder makes no mistake this time. End of a delightful innings.

After Ravindra was given a reprieve, Jasprit Bumrah manning the long off fence dropped a dolly presented by Daryl Mitchell. Second drop of the innings and it could prove costly.

Mohammad Siraj trapped Ravindra LBW before the latter went upstairs where hawkeye showed the ball was pitching outside leg. 

New Zealand are back in the game with both Rachin and Mitchell batting beautifully and attacking both Indian spinners. 

New Zealand: 125/2 in 25 overs

Another good passage of play for New Zealand as the partnership between Mitchell and Ravindra crosses 50 and looking good for more. Both the batters have decided to take on spinners and with India one bowler short, this onslaught could spell doom for India.

New Zealand: 91/2 in 20 overs

Some good batting by both New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell as they score at decent clip from over 11 to 15 without losing a wicket. There was, however, a chance offered but Ravindra Jadeja off all people put down a pretty easy chance at point to give a reprieve to Rachin Ravinda.

New Zealand: 61/2 in 15 overs

The first powerplay goes to India as they claim two wickets for just 32 runs. Both Shami and Siraj struck while Bumrah was magnificent in his four overs.

WICKET! Mohammed Shami, you beauty. He didn't get a chance to play in the first four games for India and strikes on the first ball he bowled in the tournament. What A Bowler.

The first overs go to India as they claim the big wicket of Conway and give away just 11 runs with two maidens in the first five overs.

WICKET! Siraj strikes for India early on as he gets Devon Conway caught down the leg side. Big Wicket for India. Wasn't a good ball but Conway played directly into the hands of Iyer. Conway goes for duck.

The stage is all set for the table toppers in what could be the preview of the ODI World Cup 2023 final as well, but still a long way to go in the tournament and lots of things can change.

The toss takes places in 30 minutes and meanwhile, here are the predicted Playing XI for both teams:

Given the conditions in Dharamsala, the ball will move early on, assisting seamers from both ends. However, the team with a stronger batting unit will prevail, and on current form, India looks likely to beat New Zealand in Dharamsala.

With four wins in four games so far, India and New Zealand take top two places on the points table with the Kiwis edging the hosts for the top spot by net run rate.

India beat Australia in their opening game in Chennai before thrashing Afghanistan in Delhi. They then beat arch-rivals Pakistan in Ahmedabad before handing a drubbing to Bangladesh in Pune.

New Zealand, meanwhile, started their campaign by beating defending champions England in the tournament opener before beating Netherlands in the next game.

The Kiwis then beat Bangladesh and Afghanistan to claim the top spot on the points table.
