Tesla to spend up to $4 Billion on Nvidia hardware amid AI expansion

Elon Musk confirms major investment in Nvidia technology
Tesla Inc. plans to spend between $3 billion and $4 billion on Nvidia Corp. hardware this year, CEO Elon Musk said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday. The investment is part of Tesla's larger push into artificial intelligence, demonstrating the company's commitment to developing its AI capabilities.
AI capital expenditure to reach $10 billion
Musk indicated that Tesla's total AI-related capital expenditure for the year would be around $10 billion. "For building the AI training superclusters, Nvidia hardware is about 2/3 of the cost," Musk stated on X. He further said that approximately half of the AI cost would be for internal development.
Nvidia to prioritise shipments to X and xAI
In a related move, Tesla reportedly told Nvidia to prioritise the delivery of AI chips to Musk's other companies, such as the social media platform X,the AI research firm xAI andTesla's electric vehicle division. This strategic shift emphasises the growing importance of AI technology in Musk's economic enterprise.
