
Domestic equity benchmark BSE Sensex rose over 100 points in early trade on Thursday.
The 30-share index was trading 122.14 points, or 0.30 per cent, higher at 39,680.15 at 9:30am.
Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty was quoting at 43.55, up at 11,952.30.
In the previous session Wednesday, the broader NSE Nifty closed 0.05% higher at 11,916.75, while the benchmark BSE Sensex settled 0.06% firmer at 39,839.25.
Financials stock helped the indices finish in the black, with Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd closing 7.6% higher while IndusInd Bank Ltd ending the day 3.8% higher.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi government will unveil its first budget since winning a second term by a landslide in May. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has to battle slumping economic growth and high rates of unemployment.
Economists expect her to take measures to boost domestic growth and rural consumption, among other things.
Meanwhile,Asian markets rose tracking a record performance on Wall Street, as investors turned their focus to the upcoming release of US jobs data while hoping for a big Federal Reserve interest rate cut.
