
Indian markets on Tuesday opened in red, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell 79.02 points, or 0.22 per cent, to 36,226, news agency PTI reported.
Nifty was recorded at 10,969.95 in the first few minutes of the opening morning trade on Tuesday. Nifty50 was at 10,943.35, 24.05 points or 0.22 per cent lower.
On a net basis, foreign funds sold shares worth Rs 523.94 crore, while domestic institutional investors bought shares to the tune of Rs 1,527.67 crore Monday, provisional data showed.
Indian shares fell more than one per cent and ended lower for a fifth straight session on Monday.
The benchmark BSE index closed down 1.46 per cent at 36,305.02, its lowest close since July 11.
The broader NSE index ended 1.58 per cent lower at 10,967.4, its biggest single-day percentage loss since March 16, Reuters reported.
