The Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 organised in Hyderabad was inaugurated after PM Modi and advisor to the US president Ivanka Trump pressed a button on robot "Mitra".

Mitra is a humanoid invented by a Bengaluru based company"Invento Robotics".

The founder of the company are Balaji Vishwanathan, Mahalakshmi Radhakrishnan, and Bharath Kumar.

Invento Robotics wants to "Make in India" for the world. The robots are being manufactured in Bengaluru.

Robot"Mitra" was developed in October 2016.

In 2015, the team made a robot which drew a lot of appreciation during a maker fair. The founders then realised that the concept can work better to inspire for "Make in India".

The 5 ft tall humanoid has been designed with an ability of face detection, speech detection, face recognition, contextual support and autonomous navigation.

Its founder Vishwanathan said that Mitra is capable of helping businesses do better consumer targetting.

Mitra has been working in Canara Bank and PVR Cinemas in Bengaluru.The robot speaks to the customers, reviews their preferences based on previous purchases and suggests them for a perfect purchase.

Vishwanathan added that the robot can be used as a customer service agent in multiple domains like banks, hospitals, airports, hotels.

The founder further claims that Canara bank is planning to get robots work for them in 500 bank branches.

The company is currently funding itself by rentals and sales. The company's major revenue is earned by renting out Mitra which accounts for Rs 25,000- Rs 15,000.

The robot is rented out for wedding and birthday parties where the humanoid moves around playing songs and taking pictures.

The robot costs Rs 8 lakh.

The company will soon introduce a female version of the humanoid. It will be called "Mitri". The only difference of the female humanoid will be its body design.
