Budget 2018: Jaitley promises 70 lakh new formal jobs in 2018-19

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley promised 70 lakh formal jobs in 2018-19 while presenting the annual Budget Thursday.

The lack of jobs has been one of the harshest -- if not the harshest -- criticism against the current NDA government.

Experts say the number of new jobs needed every month is a million jobs a month.

The experts add that the double whammy of demonetisation and GST led to a massive cutting of jobs, especially in the informal sector.
