The stock market on Tuesday ended on a positive note with BSE Sensex zooming 369.80 points to close at the record high of 39,275.64. Nifty, on the other hand, closed 96 points up at 11,787.15.

The domestic stock market earlier in the day hit record highs. Sensex surged over 450 points and Nifty crossed the 11,800-mark.

Market experts attributed the surge to index heavyweights ICICI Bank Ltd and Reliance Industries Ltd, amid sustained buying from foreign investors, news agency ANI reported.

Investors were also optimistic as the earnings season got off to a good start and the state-run weather office forecast average monsoon rains this year.

The broader NSE Nifty was up 115 points at 11,805.75 as of 02:40 pm and the benchmark BSE Sensex was up 455 points at 39,361.52.
