'Park outside': Kia announces massive recall of over 460,000 Telluride SUVs

Kia America announced a massive recall of 463,000 of its Telluride SUVs in the United States for the model year 2020-2024, asking the owners to keep them "parked outside" and away from buildings because the front seats can catch fire, The Associated Press reported.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a notice stating that the front power seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob. The issue can cause the vehicle to catch fire.
NHTSA noted that the recall affects certain vehicles manufactured from January 9, 2019through May 29, 2024.
The manufacturer has advised drivers to park the vehicle outside and away from structures until the recall repairs are completed.
NHTSA, in a published document, said that the dealers would fix a bracket for the power seat switch back covers, as well as repair the seat sliding knobs for free.

Kia's compact electric sports utility vehicle
Kia Corp launched on May 23 the company's first compact electric sports utility vehicle built on its dedicated EV platform. The company believed it could win over buyers through competitive pricing even as momentum in the global EV market stalls.
The EV3 is one of more than 31 electric models that Hyundai Motor Group - which includes Hyundai Motor Co, Kia Corp and premium brand Genesis - plans to introduce in the period through to 2030. Kia said in April that it aims to sell about 1.6 million EV units in 2030.
