Maserati unveils special editions at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Maserati will showcase its innovative MC20 super sports car at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed

From 11 to 14 July, Maserati will showcase its innovative MC20 super sports car at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, marking a significant milestone in the brand's illustrious motorsport history. The festival, held annually in West Sussex, southern England, is a premier event that gathers legendary drivers, teams, and automotive enthusiasts from around the world.

Maserati’s tribute at Goodwood will highlight the MC20, a car that has set new standards since its launch in 2020 with the revolutionary V6 Nettuno engine. This event will see the global debut of two limited-edition MC20 series: the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda, each produced in a series of 20 units. These special editions commemorate Maserati’s return to competitive racing in 2004, 37 years after its previous exit from the sport.

The special editions: MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda

The MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda are designed as homages to the victorious MC12, celebrating the Trident's two decades of FIA GT competition. Each car features bespoke liveries inspired by the MC12 Stradale and MC12 GT1 Vitaphone, along with exclusive interior and exterior finishes from Maserati’s Fuoriserie personalisation programme.

"The MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda are tributes to our storied past and represent the pinnacle of Maserati's craftsmanship and engineering," said a Maserati spokesperson.

Unveiling at Goodwood’s supercar paddock

These limited-edition models will be displayed in the Supercar Paddock at Goodwood, alongside another iconic Maserati creation: the MC12 Versione Corse. Developed in 2006, the MC12 Versione Corse boasts a 755-horsepower V12 engine and was designed for non-competitive track use. Only 12 customer units and one prototype of this model were ever produced, making it a rare and coveted piece of automotive history.

A glimpse of the future: MC20 Cielo in Blu Victory

Adding to the excitement, Maserati will also present the MC20 Cielo in Blu Victory. This open-top variant features a retractable glass roof and a striking metallic blue finish, reminiscent of the MC12 from two decades ago. The MC20 Cielo promises an immersive driving experience with its powerful performance and elegant design.

Electrifying the future: GranCabrio Folgore

In addition to the MC20 lineup, Maserati will introduce the GranCabrio Folgore at Goodwood’s Electric Avenue. This all-electric convertible is the first of its kind in the luxury segment, boasting 800V technology and advanced engineering solutions. The GranCabrio Folgore offers a perfect blend of sporty design, luxury, and optimal performance, making it the fastest electric convertible on the market.

The Hillclimb: a festival highlight

A highlight of the Goodwood Festival is the Hillclimb, where Maserati’s extraordinary vehicles, including the MC20 Icona, MC20 Leggenda, and MC20 Cielo, will demonstrate their prowess. This 1.16-mile course is an unparalleled showcase of automotive excellence, blending historic and modern racing cars and motorcycles.

Maserati’s commitment to innovation and heritage

Maserati’s participation in the Goodwood Festival underscores its commitment to innovation and heritage. By introducing these special editions and showcasing their latest technologies, Maserati not only honours its storied past but also looks forward to a future of cutting-edge automotive design and performance.

"The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an ideal platform for Maserati to celebrate our legacy and showcase our future," the spokesperson added. "We are excited to share these extraordinary vehicles with enthusiasts from around the world."
