Yellow vest protesters gathered at Champs Elysees on Saturday (March 16) for the 18th round of demonstrations, promising to pile on the pressure on President Emmanuel Macron's government so that their demands are met.

They are also marking four months since their mobilization started in November, as an opposition to a fuel tax hike.

Since then, Macron dropped the fuel tax increase and budgeted an extra 10 billion euros ($11 billion) to help the poorest workers.

The movement has now morphed to include several causes, and a chief demand is a citizens initiative referendum (RIC), which 'yellow vests' say will give them more say in policy making.

The protests have seen numbers decrease in recent weeks, but the 'yellow vests' are expecting bigger numbers on Saturday.
