Who was Ashlee Good? Sydney stabbing victim whose last act saved her injured baby's life

One of the deceased victims of the April 13 stabbing attack has been identified as 38-year-old first time mother Ashlee Good, who died shortly after handing over her nine-month-old injured daughter to two strangers while being severely wounded herself during the stabbing incident.

Eyewitnesses cited by the Australian media said that the dying mother threw her injured baby into the arms of two strangers and selflessly begged them to help the infant.

Ashlee Good subsequently died at the St. Vincent hospital in Sydney, according to multiple Australian news outlets.

Members of Ashlee Good's family have paid tribute to a 'beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner and all round outstanding human'.

"We appreciate the well wishes and thoughts of members of the Australian public who have expressed an outpouring of love for Ashlee and our baby girl," the family said in a statement.

"We can report that after hours of surgery yesterday our baby is currently doing well. We are so grateful for the expert care and attention of the medical team at Sydney Children’s Hospital."

The family also thanked the men for getting baby Harriet the care she needed.

"To the two men who held and cared for our baby when Ashlee could not - words cannot express our gratitude".

“We are struggling to come to terms with what has occurred. We would appreciate peace and privacy while we work through this as a family.”

First-time mother Ash Good was pushing her nine-month-old daughter Harriet in a pram through Westfield at Bondi Junction, when the knifeman leant inside and stabbed the baby girl. Then he turned his fury on her, Australian Telegraph reported.

Two men, who are brothers, heard Good's screams for helpbefore she ran to them, holding her injured baby out in front.

"She handed us the baby and said 'please help, help'," one of the men said.

"She was bleeding from her head, her face … the baby was bleeding," he said.
