Waves crash onto ferry as 'Storm Diana' hits British coast

Waves crashed onto the side of a ferry travelling from Wales to Dublin on Friday as 'Storm Diana' lashed the UK and Ireland.

A video and photographs uploaded to the internet by Steve Doherty showed waves crashing onto the bow of the ferry taking him from Holyhead in Wales to Dublin in Ireland.

Doherty, who was on his way home to Ireland to get married, told Reuters that everyone on the boat was feeling sick, later adding that the ferry made it safely to Dublin but with a lot of broken plates on board.

The UK's national weather service, the Met Office, issued yellow weather warnings for part of the UK and Ireland bordering the Irish Sea. It forecast winds of up to 70mph and heavy rain, although advised these should moderate leading into Thursday.
