Watch: SpaceX Falcon 9 launch lights up California night sky, wow onlookers

Exhaust from SpaceX's latest Falcon 9 launch lit up California's night sky on Sunday as it carried Argentine satellite SAOCOM 1A into orbit.

The launch was the first to see SpaceX's reusable booster land in California, and SpaceX's 30th booster landing in total. Previous launches on the West Coast have seen SpaceX's boosters land on specialised drone barges.

Video obtained from Reuters showed the Falcon 9's contrails ripple across the California night sky.

SAOCOM 1A is the first of two Earth observation satellites operated by Argentina's space agency that will be used for agriculture and emergency management.
