Watch: Jason Statham deals with a monster shark in 'The Meg' trailer

Warner Bros. just dropped the first trailer and poster of Jason Statham starrer, The Meg and it will give you goosebumps for real. The Fast and Furious actor is seen dealing a monster shark called the Megalodon which was presumed to be extinct for thousands of years.

The film is based on the 1997 science fiction book ‘Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror’ by Steve Alten that is about a massive, 75-foot-long Megalodon terrorizing a deep-sea submersible which comes to a standstill after bracing with the monster shark. Jason Statham plays a diver tasked with rescuing the crew of the submersible.

To play the character of the diver, Jason actually swam with sharks before the shoot of the film. While preparing for the role, the brilliant actor took a trip to Fiji islands and went diving with bull sharks. The British actor swam with 20-30 of them.

This is the official synopsis of the film:

A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below…bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time.

Apart from Jason Statham, the film stars Winston Chao, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Page Kennedy, Jessica McNamee, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Robert Taylor, Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai, and Masi Oka.
