Virginia police officer saves family from fire, then goes back in for dog

A 28-year-old police officer Jacob Moore from Buena Vista, Virginia, ran into a burning house to save a dog and an owner who were stuck insidethe house in the fire.

The officer heard an alert about the house on fire and ran into the building that was four houses away from his own home.

The house belonged to a retired couple who used to run a daycare.

Without even realising that he lacked the professional firefighter training, Officer Moore jumped inside and found one of the homeowners standing in the kitchen and screaming.

The owner, Lovie Atkinson, was worried about her husband and dog who were stuck in the fire.She did not want to leave the house without them.

Officer Moore got her out of the house and assured her that he would get back her husband and the dog.

He then went inside the houseengulfed in heavy smoke and found thedog and got her back.

The entire episode of entering the house and getting back the owner and the dogwas recorded in his body camera.

Moore has been the officer of the area for the past two years.

He did not have any professional firefighter training.He said he went inside simply because he thought that the family was in need.

Earlier in December also,Moore ran into afire to save a family.
