US: Teenager indicted for murder of sister-in-law and her kids

A 17-year-old from New Hampshire in the USA has been indicted for themurder of his sister-in-law and his nephews aged 1 and 4. The grand jury indicted Eric Sweeney on three counts of first-degree murder for purposely causing the deaths of 25-year-old Kassandra Sweeney, her 4-year-old sonBenjamin and 23-month-old son Mason in their home in Northfield, New Hampshire on August 3, 2022, reported multiple US news outlets.

Eric Sweeney was also indicted on one count of falsifying physical evidence. The indictment reportedly says that he "did alter, destroy, conceal, or remove a Taurus .40 calibre handgun" with an aim to make it difficult for investigators to find it.

He is currently being held without bail. The attorney general's office has said that he will be arraigned later.

The bodies of Kassandra Sweeney and two young sons were found in their Wethersfield Drive home on August 3, 2022. Each of them died of a single gunshot. Their deaths were determined to be homicides.

Media reports suggest that Kassandra was a homemaker. Benjamin Michael (4) liked learning about dinosaurs, movies and making crafts.

Mason was just 1.

Sean Sweeney, the children's father, expressed his emotions in a Facebook post a few days after the murders.

"I wanted to thank everyone for the outreach and support, while things will never be 'normal' again my body finally shut down and let me get some sleep last night and I woke up feeling as 'normal' as possible," he wrote.

About his wife Kassandra, he said that she was the "most amazing, caring, sweetest all-around good person that anyone could ever meet". He added that she loved their children very much.
