US lawmakers want 9/11 Commission-style probe of coronavirus response

USlawmakers now want an investigation into America's coronavirus response.The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has begun preparations. Lawmaker Adam Schiff heads this committee of lawmakers on USIntelligence.

The model could be similar to the 9/11 commission, a bipartisan group of distinguished Americans who examined the threads that not only led to the 2001 terrorist attacks but also the communication failings of USIntelligence agencies.

These are vastly different circumstances to be sure, but the pandemic’s cost to human life, public health and the USeconomy promise to be disruptive on a widespread scale.

US President Donald Trump has hardly accepted any blame for the coronavirus response. Far from an apology, Trump has repeatedly used his presidential dias to hail America's botched up response.

The US continues to see a number of positive signs that the virus has passed its peak.Trump's statements have failed to stop the barrage of criticism against him.

The proposed commission will have 25 members, selected by democratic and republican lawmakers. The commission will have to make its findings public within 18 months. President Trump may have been able to put the Russia probe behind him. But now, he faces another one thatcomes after the death of more than 55,000 people in the United States.
