US judge rejects Saudi motion to drop 9/11 charges
The judge reportedly said that the lawsuit, 'narrowly articulate a reasonable basis'
The United States federal judge dismissed the motion filed by New York accusing Saudi Arabia of playing a role in 9/11 attacks.
According to report the judge George Daniels dismissing the lawsuits said that the plaintiffs' lawsuit meets the requirements of the to court to proceed under the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act.
The judge reportedly said that the lawsuit, "narrowly articulate a reasonable basis".
Daniel the same judge has rejected same claims in the past.
US Congress passed Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act in 2016 which permits to sue a foreign state if such state was designated as a state sponsor of terrorism by the United States Department of State.
In a further hearing, he dismissed the claims against two Saudi Banks and construction company with ties to Osama Bin Laden citing the reason that it lacks jurisdiction.
Thousands of people were killed in a terrorist attack on World Trade Centre in 2001.
In 2001, Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda carried out a coordinated attack on World Trade Centre killing at least 2,996 people and injuring over 6,000 people.
The attack caused infrastructure damage of $10 billion.
