Biden says Trump should be jailed
Outgoing US President Joe Biden added to his long list of gaffes yet again on Tuesday when he called for Donald Trump to be locked up, quickly backtracking from his statement soon after. “If I said this five years ago, you’d lock me up: We gotta lock him up,” the 81-year-old said during a visit to a Democratic campaign office in Concord, New Hampshire.
Just as the audience applauded him, he realised what he had said and twisted it to stave off controversy. "Politically, lock him up — lock him out, that’s what we’ve got to do," he said.
Trump campaign was quick to grasp at his misspoken words and slammed the administration for its "plans". Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said Biden "just admitted the truth: he and Kamala’s plan all along has been to politically persecute their opponent President Trump because they can’t beat him fair and square."
“The Harris-Biden Admin is the real threat to democracy. We call on Kamala Harris to condemn Joe Biden’s disgraceful remark.”

Biden was arguing about Trump's lack of commitment to the Constitution. "Our democracy is at stake," he said. “Think about it. Think about what would happen if Donald Trump wins this election.”

Trump is battling a string of legal cases.The 78-year-old was convicted in May this year by a Manhattan jury of 34 criminal counts of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016. The sentencing is scheduled for Nov 26.
The Republican presidential nominee has labelled his legal troubles a witch hunt and politically motivated. Trump has regularly used such language about his opponents, but the Biden administration mostly avoids speaking up about Trump's legal issues.
However, Biden referred to them just last week in a taunting fashion in Pennsylvaniasaying "I think he’s running to stay out of jail".
Meanwhile, while running in 2016, Trump said the same words for Hillary Clinton, pushing the crowd to chant, “Lock her up".
After assuming office, he regularly asked his attorneys to prosecute Clinton, Biden, former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State John Kerry and other Democrats, and former FBI officials who had investigated him.
