US election 2024: Who is Kamala Harris' sister? all about....

Vice President and the Republican presidential candidate Kamala Harris has campaigned hard to defeat her Democrat rival Donald Trump in the US Presidential election to be held on November 5, 2024. And in this journey, there have been people who have been of immense support to her. One among them is Harris' younger sister Maya Harris.

Who is Maya Harris?

Kamala and Maya were born in Oakland, California to a Jamaican American father and Indian American mother. While both the sisters were young their parents divorced. They then went on to live with their mother after the separation in the early 1970s.

Maya grew up to earn her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and later pursue a career in law from Stanford Law School. It is here that she met her husband Tony West.

Maya herself is inclined towards politics and has played an important role in helping Kamala with her presidential campaign.

She has worked as senior policy adviser for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign's policy agenda. Maya has also served as campaign chairperson of her sister's 2020 presidential campaign.

She also previously served as the vice president of democracy, rights and justice, and an officer of the philanthropic foundation, the Ford Foundation.

Speaking to PEOPLE about the kind of relationship both the sisters share, Maya said, "I will always support her, stand by her side and have her back the way I know she has mine."

"She’s a force. She's fearless, she's relentless, she's tough, she's courageous. I mean, she really has been that way since we were kids. She's never backed down from a challenge," she further added.
