Popular podcaster Joe Rogan endorses Donald Trump

US election 2024: Popular podcaster Joe Rogan endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump on Monday (Nov 4) in the race for the White House ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

The endorsement comes after Rogan’s recent interview with Trump, which lasted nearly three hours.

Showing his support for the former president, Rogan wrote on X, “For the record, yes, that’s an endorsement of Trump.”

The announcement might help Trump in an already tightly contested race when other popular celebrities like Beyonce and Taylor Swift have shown their support for Democrat candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Rogan also posted a clip of his interview with billionaire Elon Musk, who has also endorsed Trump, and said that Musk made the "most compelling case for Trump."

Trump’s interview with Rogan, released on YouTube and Spotify in late October, lasted about three hours, in which he discussed a range of topics. The interview got 45 million views on YouTube alone.

During the conversation, Trump addressed the alleged assassination attempt and even displayed a scar, stating it was left by a bullet fired by an assailant he referred to as "Crook."

Interestingly, Trump had criticised Rogan in August on his social media platform, Truth Social, after the podcaster praised then-independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Later, Kenndy Jr pulled out of the race and endorsed Trump.

In addition to rallies and media interviews, Trump and Harris have also courted voters with appearances on podcasts this election year.

Spotify said in March that "The Joe Rogan Experience" had 14.5 million followers, almost triple the platform's second most popular programme. Rogan also has more than 19 million followers on Instagram and 18 million followers on YouTube.

A poll by YouGov last year found that 81 per cent of Rogan's listeners are male and 56 per cent are under 35 years old, a demographic that tends to support Trump over Harris.

Even Harris' team had been in touch with Rogan's programme about a possible appearance, but her campaign said in late October she will not appear on his podcast.

Rogan joins a list of celebrities like Elon Musk and wrestler Hulk Hohan in endorsing Trump. However, Harris has a star-lit list of endorsements from actress Meryl Streep, comedian Chris Rock and former talk show host Oprah Winfrey, apart from the superstar singers mentioned earlier.
