UNICEF Deputy Director Justin Forsyth steps down

The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund's (UNICEF) deputy director Justin Forsyth has stepped down, the agency announced in a statement on Thursday.

Forsyth's resignation came in the wake of looming concerns over his "inappropriate" comments and behaviour.

Save the Children UK said concerns were raised over Forsyth's inappropriate behaviour towards female staff during his tenure as the CEO between 2011 and 2015. Reviews in cases resulted in "unreserved apologies" to the women involved, Reuters reported.

Reportedly, Forsyth was accused of sending inappropriate texts to Save the Children UK's female staff. Allegedly, he also made comments on their appearance while heading the charity in 2011 and 2015.

Forsyth, in a statement, has noted that his resignation has nothing to do with the "mistakes" he had made at Save the Children and that he is stepping down owing to the danger of "damaging" the two organisations that he loves and cherishes -- Unicef and Save the Children.
