Turkish police detain 110 suspected IS members in Ankara

At least 110 suspected members of terror group Islamic State were arrested Thursday in a police raid in the Turkish province of Ankara, reported Turkish news agency Anadolu.

At least 1,500 police officers, members of the anti-terrorist unit and the intelligence department of the Ankara Security Directorate raided 250 homes early morning Thursday, arresting 110 suspects of the 245 they were aiming to round up.

The police also seized a large quantity of digital material related to the terror group during the raid.

Turkish police have arrested more than 300 suspected IS members so far in November.

On Wednesday, another terror group member was arrested in the city of Kayseri, in the central part of the country, according to the Hurriyet newspaper.

Turkey has witnessed a spate of suicide attacks, claimed by the IS, in recent years, that killed hundreds.

On Dec. 31, 2016, an IS militant had killed 39 people celebrating New Year's Eve in an Istanbul nightclub.
