These sheep recognise Obama, Emma Watson and a BBC journalist

An experiment conducted by Cambridge University researchers has shown that sheep possessfacerecognition abilities similar tothat of monkeys, apes, and humans.

The sheep were trained to identifyfaces of prominentcelebritieslikeEmma Watson, Jake Gyllenhaal, former US president Barack Obama and BBC journalist Fiona Bruce.

After the training, the animal was able to choose the photo of the celebrities over the unknownfaces.

The experiment was performed on eight Female Welsh Mountain Sheep who were trained to mark out photos of familiar people over unfamiliar ones.

In return, they were given food as the reward for identifying the known picture.

The sheep wereshown two different pictures on two computer screens. They selected their photos by breaking an infrared beam with their noses.

They even identified the celebrity from a different angle.

Later on, the sheep identified the images of the celebrities.

A previous study had already revealed that sheep had the ability to identify other sheep and human handlers that they were aware of.
