A Russian born model Anna Shapiro sparked a fear of another nerve agent attack in English city, Salisbury, after she claimed that President Vladimir Putin tried to kill her and her husband Alex King.
Thirty-years-old, Shapiro -- now an Israeli citizen -- was dining with her partner at an Italian restaurant Prezzo in Salisbury where towards the end of her meal she and husband both fell extremely ill.
Media reports quoted Shapiro saying that she found Alex collapsed in the washroom and "foaming at the mouth". Shapiro then called for help after which she too became ill and collapsed on the floor both were then rushed to the hospital.
Shapiro has been discharged however, Alex King is still in the hospital and reportedly is in critical condition.
The incident drew comparisons to the case of former Russian spy Sergie Skripal and his daughter Yulia, who were poisoned by the nerve agent Novichok in March.
Following the incident, Shapiro said that she may have been targeted by assassins of Putin as she opposes him.
"I was targeted by Putin's henchmen. They want me dead as I oppose Putin and have turned my back on my country," she was quoted as saying by local media reports.
"Russia is capable of anything," she added.
She further said that her father was a general in the Russian army who played for the military orchestra.
Meanwhile, Wiltshire police have ruled out the poisoning possibility after conducting an initial investigation.
However, investigation regarding what caused the pair to become suddenly so unwell is still on.
Local media reports have suggested that their illness may have been caused by a suspected rat poison attack.
